Vretta’s vision is a world where everyone enjoys mathematics. To see this vision come to life, all the digital learning and assessment mathematics resources are required to be accessible to every learner. This is the reason for our commitment to the goal of creating resources that meet global standards of web accessibility.
The standards we follow are those of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), published by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). In line with these standards, we strive to create content that is Operable, Understandable, Perceivable, and Robust.
Compliance STATEMENT
We are currently working towards full compliance with WCAG 2.0 Level AA by January 2020. Additionally, we aim to implement WCAG 2.1 Level AA content in 2020.
We want as many people as possible to be able to use our resources. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels, and fonts,
- zoom in, up to 300%, without the text spilling off the screen,
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard,
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software,
- and listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver).
We have also made the content of our resources as simple as possible to understand.
Our accessibility standards are regularly reviewed and updated to adhere to accessibility guidelines and legal requirements. The resources under review include:

- eTextbook,
- Solution Manuals,
- PowerPoint Presentations,
- Financial Calculator Resources,
- Formula Sheets,
- Glossary,
- Errata Sheet,
- Account Settings Tab, and

Improving Accessibility
We are working towards achieving our goal of Level AA accessibility, but we realize there are some areas that still require improvement. The following information outlines the work we are doing to achieve our accessibility goals.
Text Alternatives
A few images do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information. When we publish new content we will make sure our use of images meets accessibility standards.
A few elements (forward and backward buttons) rely solely on non-textual instructions for their operation.
Keyboard & Focus
A few page-elements are not accessible with tab or keyboard only. A few page-elements do not visually identify the tab focus to the user.
Labels & Instructions
A few input errors do not identify the specific error to the user in text. Not all user input elements have labels or instructions.
These improvements will be made in the coming year. With regard to standards of accessibility that are legally required, our plan is to have changes in place well ahead of legal due dates. We do not believe any of the legally required accessibility standards place a disproportionate burden on us.

Recently there have been many tools developed to help users with accessibility needs. These tools may provide help depending on your need:
- JAWS offers limited trial-access to screen-reader software.
- NVDA provides free screen-reader software.
- VoiceOver provides screen-reader software on various Apple products.
- Windows also has many features that provide accessibility support.
- AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use.
